Corrugated cardboard is the No. 1 type of packaging used for transportation. Over 65% of all goods produced in Germany are packaged in corrugated cardboard. And production volume is accordingly high: In 2007, 8.6 billion square meters of corrugated cardboard were produced in Germany.

Based on its structure made of air and paper, the various types of corrugated cardboard provide individualized protection for any product, from extravagant champagne flutes to diesel engines. The secret of corrugated cardboard lies in the corrugated paper, which – wetted and heated, shaped by corrugated rollers – has a high load carrying capacity and, like an airbag, cushions the items inside from collisions and similar strains. When the corrugated interior paper is combined with the layers of paper covering, the result is single-, double-, or triple-wall corrugated cardboard, depending on how the material will be used and the load it will be required to bear. Corrugated cardboard is produced on cutting-edge high-output systems that can produce up to 400 running meters of board per minute.
